MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: MONACO COOPER LAMME & CARR PLLC

Tell us a little bit about your business, how your practice was started?

Monaco Cooper Lamme & Carr, PLLC is a law firm founded in January 2020 by four experienced attorneys who left the culture of corporate big law and opened a firm focused on small firm values – aligned goals, rewarding client relationships, cost-effective representation, and forward-thinking mentality.

What brought your business to the Guilderland Community?

When we decided to open Monaco Cooper Lamme & Carr, PLLC, we knew Guilderland would be a great home for us.  Some of us live in and around the Guilderland area and we had strong roots planted in the community.

We are a neighborhood business and community is important to us. We are proud to be involved in organizations such as the Guilderland Library Foundation Board, Guilderland Youth Lacrosse Association, Guilderland Girls Softball League and Guilderland Pop Warner. We look forward to expanding our community relationships.

What sets your practice apart from other law firms in the area?

Very few law firms … really very few businesses, can truly claim to be one-of-a-kind. Even so, we genuinely believe that we offer something very simple but often difficult to find in a law firm, and that is true client focus. While there is no substitute for experience – and we have plenty of that with over 100 years of combined experience in some of Albany’s largest law firms – there is also no replacement for exceptional client service and that is what we deliver.  We get to know you and what is most important to you. We solve your problems in the fastest, most cost-effective way. We communicate effectively and often. Our clients can expect our honest, practical, and objective legal services. We promise not to squander your time or your money because that is not who we are.

One of the things that drew us to Guilderland—as opposed to being in one of the downtown areas—is that we realize a significant cost savings for our business that we can then pass down to our clients. We do not need to charge exorbitant rates to cover unnecessary overhead for our firm. It’s a win-win for us because we get to live and work in this community, and our clients benefit also.

How did the COVID-19 pandemic impact your business?

When we opened in January 2020, we obviously could not have anticipated the global pandemic that COVID-19 delivered. Monaco Cooper Lamme & Carr, PLLC was only 10 weeks old when New York shut down businesses. However, with the best group of employees, the loyalty of our clients, and the support of community businesses and banks, our brand-new firm was not only able to survive but we thrived, doubling in size in both employees and office footprint by the end of the August 2020 after only being in business 8 months and weathering the pandemic.

What areas of law do you practice?

For a small firm, our offerings are diverse and include everything from corporate work, personal injury, estate planning, real estate/land use, Title IX work for local schools, and litigation across the board. We are also general counsel to many businesses that have a need for regular, ongoing legal services but do not have a full-time attorney on staff. If you think we can help, give us a call at (518) 855-3535 or visit us at mclclaw.com.
